My classes are conversation classes which aim to build confidence and fluency. Before class, I will send you a few questions which will structure our conversation. You can prepare if you want to, or you can ‘wing it’! I don’t mind!

Then in the class we will have an interesting conversation and (hopefully) have fun! Research proves that you learn better when you feel relaxed, so making sure that you feel comfortable is my number one priority.

That being said, I do like asking challenging questions! In the real world, you will need to use English to express complex ideas. I will help you to prepare for this! I enjoy it when my students say “oh, that’s a difficult question”… We improve by doing challenging things!

The final 5 or 10 minutes of class will be dedicated to feedback. I will keep notes of your answers throughout our conversation. We will look over this together and I will provide feedback which directly targets your strengths and weaknesses. I will also use this time to show you how I would say the same thing in a more natural and native-like way. I will gradually build up your awareness of native words, phrases and structures so that you can understand native speakers with confidence.

After class you will get a transcript of our class for you to study with and personalised, written feedback from me.

Speaking to a new teacher is kind of scary! I know this, so a trial class is a low stress way for us to get to know each other and for me to understand your English level.

I find that most people have strengths and weaknesses with their English. Some things they are really good at, and other things are more difficult. In this class, I will identify what things you are struggling with in English (it might be something that you didn’t even know about!). Classes going forward will then be personalised to help you gain confidence and proficiency in this area.

I only work with a few students at a time so this allows me to really personalise our classes to help you with your specific language needs.

Please note — 25 minute classes are only available to regular students. All first classes are 45 minutes long so that we can discuss your goals without running out of time!

Absolutely. I only work with a few students at a time, so I like to think of this more as a coaching relationship as opposed to a tutor that is only here for class. I communicate with my students mostly through Whatsapp or Kakao Talk. If you have a question about something important, you can drop me a text and I will answer when I’m free.

Each student has a custom Notion page they can access at any time with all of their feedback and transcripts. Classes are delivered over Zoom.

I will send you the conversation topic in advance so that you can prepare. With beginner level students, we will start with easier, small talk topics and gradually build up complexity with time.

Absolutely! I LOVE working with advanced students at C1-C2 level. My YouTube channel is more focused at intermediate students, however I have experience teaching English to doctors, lawyers, consultants, game developers and everything in between. I have helped students through PhD applications and job interviews. We can work together on a specific topic (like a CV or interview prep), or I can identify areas of improvement within your English level. We then will have conversation which are targeted at strengthening these points.

Yes, but not in the way that you might expect.

I have to be honest — I love grammar, but I hate grammar exercises! I believe that we learn grammar by actually using it. I like to think of this as ‘learning in context’ or ‘learning while doing’! So, if you are somebody who wants to have an English class and do grammar drills or grammar tests, then my conversation classes may not be for you.

However, my students know that I am a huge grammar nerd, and I am always working on improving my students grammar without them even realising that they are, in fact, studying grammar! We will learn through conversation, not through lectures or tests.

I specialise in teaching adult learners. I am sorry to say that I do not teach students under 18 years of age at this time.

I have worked with many students who are preparing for the TOEFL, IELTS and the Cambridge Exam, and would love to give you guidance on your speaking in preparation for exams.

However, I do not specialise in exam preparation. My classes focus on building practical English confidence. I will prepare you to use English in the real work, not just the exam room.

I want you to work in English with confidence, to network with confidence, to make friends with confidence. My goal is to make English a part of your life that you enjoy and feel fulfilled by, not something that you dread.
